Tenor/Soprano:  David Becker has been the saxophone instructor at Cuesta College since 2001, after receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Florida. He spent several years performing around the world as band leader and sideman for many luxury cruise lines in addition to performing in many ensembles at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. In addition to his long-time relationship with the Royal Garden Swing Orchestra, David has performed with The Temptations, Manhattan Transfer, Smokey Robinson, Sam Rivers, and Marvin Hamlish, to name a few.


Alto:  Marty Wright began playing clarinet and saxophone in his native Portland, Oregon before moving with his wife, Virginia (currently principal clarinetist with the San Luis Obispo Symphony) to the Bay area in 1952. There, he played with the Jack Fina Orchestra, the Gerald Wilson Big Band, Earl Hines' Traditional Jazz Ensemble and a quintet led by the late Brew Moore. Marty brought his family to San Luis Obispo in 1960 when he began teaching chemistry at Cal Poly. He retired in 1991 and his only involvement with chemistry now is restricted to cooking and bartending, while his music-related activities consist of searching for decent reeds and listening to chamber music when not playing with the Royal Garden Swing Orchestra.

Baritone: Bob Sennett  is very well-known on the Central Coast as a composer and  an excellent musician. He moved to California in 1963 and began writing and performing for big bands, including Glenn Henry Orchestra and  Santa Barbara City College, in addition to  performing in bands backing Pat Suzuki and Jimmy Dean. Bob moved to San Luis Obispo in 1970 and  eventually retired from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo so he could devote more time to composing and performing. In addition to playing baritone saxophone in the Royal Garden Swing Orchestra, he has performed with the Central Coast Swing Band and the Cuesta College Evening Jazz Band.
